Saxemara Artist studios

A multidisciplinary artist residency in southern Sweden that offers musicians, artists, writers and other creators a calm place to stay and work, close to forest and the sea.

“Saxemara Artist Studios focuses on sustainable creation, meaning that the balance between the creative practice and rest of life, is more important than the outcome of one’s work. Here, those who wish can take part in shared conversations and meals, as well as training and excursions into the nearby nature.”

Private studios

You live and work in a fully equipped private studio that gives you the space to rest and create without interruption. All three studios are comfortably furnished and has its own character.

Shared spaces

All guests share the main building with a kitchen, dining area, and bathroom with laundry facilities. In the garden there is a covered terrace, a barbecue area and a large lawn for laying out a blanket.

“The cottage felt warm and cosy and was perfect for rediscovering creativity and restoring sleep after a stressful period. It was also clear that the host, John Dunsö, genuinely enjoys being a host, knows everyone in the village, and is happy to help with problem-solving or connections. Saxemara was a wonderful experience, with its nature, sea sauna, and interesting people.”
Elin Sundström
“Saxemara is a very inspiring place that invites immersion, creativity, and focus. My time in the large studio was incredibly rewarding, and I hope to return again in the near future!”
Johan Lundberg
